Justin Carbon

It is estimated that
the rugged peaks of
the Snowy Range rose
50 to 70 million years
ago. It is also said that
the mountain peaks
may have once been
much higher. Geologists suggest that approximately 15,000
feet of rock has
eroded away since
the mountain
range's creation.

Scenic Drives Through Carbon County
Scenic Drives

Aspen Alley

Aspen Alley resides in the little-known Sierra Madre Mountains. The Aspen Alley Scenic
Drive makes a great side trip companion to the Battle Highway Scenic Drive. The Deep Creek
Road "Ts" into the Battle Highway on the west side of the Continental Divide connecting it to
a route around the north end of the Medicine Bow National Forest passing through an
incredible aspen grove with spectacularly large, straight trees that form Aspen Alley. Plentiful
oak trees mixed with aspen and evergreens makes this loop a must see especially in the fall as
the foliage changes. Wildlife is abundant so be on the lookout!
